Questions & Answers
Q. What makes the Practical Nappy different to other brands ?
A. There are 2 key reasons. 1) Price: By keeping it simple we have kept the price low. 2) The velcro fabric fastening system : Most nappies only have waist adjustment, but our nappy not only adjusts from around the waist (sideways) but also from bottom to top (lengthways). This gives a much better fit and stops the nappy from sagging. In summary we have drawn from all the best elements of reusable nappies ,then refined to the basics and added our own unique features.
Q. How does the nappy work?
A. It`s a slim fitting nappy, shaped like a disposable but comes in 2 parts. The outer with its wipe-clean inner surface is made from soft PU coated polyester fabric which not only makes it waterproof but also quick drying. The nappy is specially shaped with its elasticated deep gusset to take the second part of the nappy, the absorbent pad. The pad is shaped to fit snugly between the baby's legs. There is good containment due to the deep gusset , pad frill and the elasticated leg frill. When its time to do a change if its not badly soiled you can wipe clean the inner surface and just replace the pad. Or have 2-3 outers on rotation and rinse each one after every change.
Q. How absorbent is the Practical Nappy?
A. The absorbent part are the nappy pads. These consists of 2 core cloths either bamboo or microfibre placed inside a fleece sleeve. You also have the option of using just 1 core cloth depending on your needs. Each cloth once folded creates an 8 layer pad. Absorbency quantities may vary, but each cloth has approximate 150-180ml absorbency capability. Therefore using 2 core cloths increases wear time and absorbency up to 360ml.
Q. How quick drying is the Practical Nappy?
A. Simply put its very quick drying. Normally if you rinse the outer and hang it out it should be dry by the next change. The Core cloths take a bit longer, but because you can separate them and they fold out they dry very efficiently. The bamboo cloths do take a little longer than the microfibre cloths. Obviously drying times vary according to the ambient drying temperature.
Q. Can the nappy pads/boosters be used in other nappies?
A. Yes they can, but also other pads can be used in our nappies due to its shaping.
Q. Do you sell the nappies and pads individually or as a set/pack?
A. We do both. We like to sell the items as a set but we can do individual items., We try and be flexible. Contact us or visit the `thepracticalbabycompany.co.uk` website shop for more details of products.
Q. Is there a discount for bulk orders?
A. Yes depending on the type of order you make. All starter packs and booster packs are already cheaper than if you bought the individual nappies and pads.
Q. Do you sell other products?
A. At the moment its just the nappies and pads but with many other practical and affordable ideas expect to see more added to the range in the future, including our 3 in 1 baby sling. We are always looking for good products to sell that match our company ethos, however we are primarily a design company.
